The Y₁ receptor antagonist BIBP-3226, a derivative of D-arginine, binds to the Y₁ receptor with high affinity . BIBP3226 also reduced the NPY-induced increase in intracellular calcium as well as the pressor response in vitro and in vivo. BIBP3226 inhibited NPY induced feeding in rats.
